Space Space debris poses growing threat to space satellites...
Satellites are on threats that are increasing day by day claimed by space scientists.
What is Space
Debris?
Debris are
small particles that are from something that are destroyed, or from accidents. Space
debris are small particles available in space. These are may be satellites,
rockets, etc. broken parts or any other material such as micrometeorites.
These Debris
are in the range of 1cm to much bigger quantity moving with 22,000 miles per
hour that can cause the same effect on collision as a 200 kg object gives on
moving 100km per hour on the surface of earth. These debris pose a threat to
all the satellites in space which supports very advanced works such as military,
aviation, etc. collision between these debris with satellites create a huge misfunctioning
of satellites and even broken down in pieces. Every country concerned about the
phenomenon of chain collision in between debris that can cause increase the
chance of collision with satellites.
Many organizations
try to tracking these debris in space, bigger (more than 10cm) debris are able
to track easily, but smaller (less than 1cm) are difficult to track. The work
can be managed by super-computers. Right now, only US, Russia, Europe has these
facilities to track these small debris.
India has started their work in this field with the help of IIIT-DELHI institute to track the debris and analyze it, finding the probability of collision in debris helps in safeguarding the satellites. The project is estimated to be competed in 2-years with funding by National Super Computing Mission (NSM).
